VOLCANO NATIONAL PARK

Also called Parc National Des Volcans (the French translation, as French is more widely spoken than English) lies in Rwanda along the border with Zaire and Uganda. There is a chain of seven volcanoes, one of them more than 4,500 metres high. On the bamboo and rainforest covered slopes is one of the last remaining sancturies of the mountain gorilla (gorilla gorilla beringei).
